Question #1:

Can't decide what bird to get, please help me?

I currently have two cute little budgies and they don't like to interact with me unless I have food, they are cute to watch but a little boring. I really want to get a third bird, but I can't decide what would be good to get. I currently live in my parents house, but I would like to eventually move into an apartment and therefore I need a somewhat quiet bird. I would also like to get something with a bit more intelligence ,personality (sorry budgies!), costs less than $300USD and isn't too big. I can't decide on either a sun or green cheek conure, a parrotlet, cockatiel or lineolated parakeet.
elly,
I do interact with them, but not as much as I would like to be able to. I got them at Petsmart a couple of years ago, I bought one at first but he just seemed so lonely and wouldn't leave his perch so I got him a little friend. They have bonded to each other and therefore they don't need me as a companion. If I do get another bird I would definitely get one that's hand-raised and not from a box store like petsmart.
Which is quieter, a green cheek conure or a cockatiel? I really can't decide between the two
Can someone please give more info on conures?

Question #2:

eating the sparrows - arent they edible?

I have 5 chickens and 1 cockerel, i free range them in my yard, there is always food around for my chickens.

Sparrows are a problem, they are attracted by the chick food, they come by groups of 10-30 birds and make gang attacks in anything they can eat, i have a fenced (for the chickens) vegetable garden, the sparrows ate my peas before i do. They are really invading my territory.

I will build a sparrow trap, its my turn on their game.

I want to eat them all. I will BBQ them all and swallow them and burp while drinking beer before i fart and laugh at them like a barbarian uncivilized crazy man that i am. I would feed them to my dog, if i had one.

Now, give me a reason, why shouldnt i eat sparrows, do you think they carry diseases or anything like that?

What do you think of eating sparrows?

Question #3:

Ever wonder why Communism is portrayed as the enemy of Democracy as your job gets shipped to Mexico ?

Labor Day People.. how all you Laborers feeling out there? Lost your job, Got outsourced,..stop your whining go back to school get an IT job..oh wait IT jobs aren't as Plentiful.. no worries go become a nurse we can never get enough of those and now with mandated health coverage there will be a surge in health care.. Question #4:

would you kill a bird with a pellet riffle?

My friends and I have been killing birds around our house lately. Its mostly seagulls and I kind of feel bad but on the other hand seagulls are such jerks. they steal food shit on everything and are so loud. usually we dont actually kill them we miss.

Question #5:

Hand-Feeding: Cruel or Not?

The common belief these days is that, when a chick is hand-fed, it develops an early love for humans and grows to be a loving, cuddly pet. But is this true?

Many of us don't grasp the concept that comes before the cute, friendly bird. The hen goes through the strain of laying a clutch of eggs, for what? To have them taken away. Even worse, sometimes her young have hatched and are now helpless, blind, and featherless. While she's out getting food, a gloved hand reaches in and snatches up the babies. The mother and father return to find an empty nest. What happens to them then? Well, both parents are in distress beyond belief. Have any of you ever lost a child before? Imagine losing all of them. That's what most breeding birds have to go through, sometimes even on a monthly basis.

Most of you would argue "But that's the only way our birds get to be so friendly and loving when they grow up", but the truth is that it's not. Studies show that baby birds who spend twenty minutes a day several weeks after they've hatched are just as cuddly as hand-fed babies. So what am I asking? I'm asking if you believe that hand-feeding should be stopped, or if it should continue. Any bird breeders out there who have tried the latter method before? Tell us your experiences. Any breeders willing to try out the second way? Go ahead.

Question #6:

Can you name these songs?

Here are 10 lyrics from some songs from a lot of varieties of bands. Try to identify them without being a cheater and using Google.

1) "Close your eyes and I'll kiss you, cause, with the birds I'll share..."
2) "You say yes. I say no. You say stop, and I say go, go, go."
3) "Hello, hello, hello. Is there anybody in there?"
4) "And her feet are all covered in tar balls, and scars."
5) "He's been gettin' reprieve from the heat in the frozen food section... Yeah."
6) "Got to be a joker, he just do what he please."
7) "Five days since you laughed at me, saying get back together, come back and see me."
8) "No matter which way you go. No matter which way you stay. You're out of my mind..."
9) "If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now."
10) "It's crazy, I'm thinking, just knowin' that the world is round."

How many can YOU get?

Question #7:

Do you think Plastic Bags should be Illegal...?

...since they take roughly 1,000 years to degrade & the waste is piling up.

And since they kill any animal, bird, etc. who Eats them because they think it's food?

(I saw this great special today on PBS).

Question #8:

i want to get a pet cockatiel and i am a first time bird owner and yes i realize i have to hold them ALOT. i am researching so please don't yell at me (as i said im a beginner.) is this a good cage?

Question #9:

ok so your going to want something that can get you food like squirrels, birds, rabbits and maybe the occasional deer. but you also want something that you could defend yourself with incase you run into some maniac or some drug farm out in the forest. what rifle caliber would you choose and why? also if you could have a back up handgun, what caliber would you choose?

Question #10:

HELP! My parakeets got into a fight and one is hurt really bad!?

I need help! I noticed my parakeets fighting 3 days ago, so my dad’s been looking for another cage to separate them. They just had eggs recently, but I don’t think they were fertile because they ended up kicking them out of their home. But when they were sitting on the eggs, the little fights started. My boy wouldn’t let her leave the house for 3 days and when she finally got out, she refused to go back in the nest, so he ended up spending 12 days on the eggs, till he kick them out. They’ve been having little fights on and off since then but for the last 3 days things have been VERY violent between them. We were going to separate them tomorrow, but today when I came home from school I realized that my female bird was only resting on one leg (she’s back on it now) and when the boy turned his head his right eye is half way shut and there is dried and fresh blood all around it and down his beak. His feathers look slightly pulled, and my girl bird was scraping her beak on a wooden stick like she was sharpening it (maybe she’s getting the blood off her beak?). Now my boy is shaking his head up and down every time she gets near him and tries to put his beak near hers. I'm currently supervising them until my dad gets back with the cage. I have no idea what to do! He’s bleeding, hurt, shaking, bobbing his head up and down (it looks like she’s feeding him when they do this) and his blood is on her beak and she looks like she’s getting herself ready for battle again. We have no money for a vet right now. I don’t think Petco will take him back. So what now? Do I separate them and let him tough it out? I don’t think he’s going to make it. Is there a place that will take him? Any suggestions on how to care for this? Is there something I can give him? Median, certain food, items? PLEASE! I NEED HELP NOW!

Question #11:

what type of food does a princess parrot like to eat?

i own a princess parrot and i have tried feeding her all kinds of bird food and dry fruits and she doesn't like to eat it..

Question #12:

My indian ringneck turns really aggressive sometimes :(?

Normally I love my little birdy. I have had him just over a week and have bonded with him quite well. He acsepts treats from me through the bars but not through my hand. He will eat from his food bowl out of my hand though. However sometimes when he is in his cage and he see's my arm approaching he will go for my arm. Although he cant get me because he is in the cage, it upsets me because i dont know what he's thinking and i would really love a tame cuddly bird. I baught him from the pet shop, and the person selling him said he wasnt the tamest. Infact he's not tame at all. He will only let me touch his cage, any one else he will flap about. And certainly he doesnt like my family hovering over him. Please help, much thanks. Kind regards.

Question #13:

Why is my baby leopard gecko throwing up it's food?

I just got a leopard gecko 4 days ago from Pet Supplies Plus. The stupid worked of course picked it up by the tail to put it in the container for me to take it home and the poor guy squealed. :( After I got home I let him out and let him adjust to his new environment. (I'm not sure what the sex is, but I'm just going to say guy to make it easier...) He has pooped twice and it's been watery and almost seedy like a bird poop. Is that normal? He seems to have somewhat of an appetite. He's interested in the gut loaded meal worms I feed him and once in a while he eats them. He only eats one at a time when he does eat them, but a few hours later I find them thrown up half digested in the cage. The temperature is fine in the tank. I tried dusting the gut loaded meal worms with the calcium supplement but it smells like fake banana and I think it turns him off from them. He won't even go after those, so I've just been trying regular meal worms but he's still throwing them up. Any suggestions? I have slate in the bottom of the cage, clean water is available, he has a moist warm hut and a dry cooler hut to stay in. Everything is just how it should be for him but he's not very healthy. It might just be stress but I'm worried. He sleeps all the time and just likes to hide in the corners of his huts, which I realize is pretty normal because they're nocturnal and not social creatures. He doesn't mind crawling onto my hand and isn't scared. I just need help. I even tried catching tiny wild crickets but he didn't want anything to do with them. Any suggestions? No I am not taking him to a vet, and I can't try crickets because I'm in a dorm at college and we aren't even supposed to have any pets but freshwater fish. I can't go to the store every few days to get fresh crickets because it's like 20 minutes away. This is getting a little ridiculous and I almost wish I never got him. They're supposed to be simple to take care of. Like my beta fish haha. But PLEASE help and quickly!
Please. Suggestions would be so helpful.
Respone to "Answers": The gecko was on sand at the pet store and I'm not sure what it was fed as there was no live insects in the tank when I got him and the store employee did not know. I am not abusing my gecko thank you very much. I am doing all that I can to make sure he tries to get better. There is no vet anywhere near here to take him to. If people can't care for babies, then why would they sell them? I'm assuming that they just sold him too early. He is so small... I made care when I caught the wild crickets to make sure they were small and found away from roads and fields where pesticides were used. I'm not a retard. Many breeders say online that they feed their geckos a staple diet of mealworms so I'm not too concerned that is the issue.
Oh and his stomach isn't bloated at all like he is impacted and he's kept down a few meal worms but throws the majority of them up btw.

How to get a Canadian goose to fly away?

I have a pet goose that we found at about 2 weeks old, and no we did not take him or her from it's family it was wondering around all by itself in the city near the road and there were no adult geese anywhere so we took it home and iv raised birds before so I knew how to take care of it and we tried to get a humane society to take it but they didn't want it. Anyways now it's probably about 4 months old and he know how to live on his own he finds his own food in the grass and he can fly
perfectly fine but know were trying to get him to fly away on his own and go find other goose friends. We brought him down to the pond down the road from our house hoping he would stay there since other geese do go there at night to sleep but there were none there at the time and he fly all the way back to the house once he noticed we weren't there. So I'm wondering if there's a way to get him to stay there maybe if he sees othe geese there or should we maybe drive further away so he might not know how to get back I know that sounds mean but we want him to go out into the world instead of just walking around in the back yard. Or is he gonna stay at our house because we raised him there?
