Question: Is the blue lobster compatible with my other fish?

( Back )

Answer #1:

They pose a HUGE threat to ALL fish tank mates. Lobsters, crabs, and crayfish all belong in species tank only, because their diet consists of mainly fish.

Answer #2:

Just put him in there and if he kills all your fish then I'd say that he is NOT compatible.

Answer #3:

I really wouldn't suggest it! My mom has a 60 gallon tank and she promised my little bro he could pick something to go in there, he selected a blue lobster.
She has parrot cichlids, gourami's, cat fish (smaller ones, definitely not as big as yours!) and silver dollars as well.
However, he never laid a...claw on them. Instead they slowly picked and picked at hm, ripping off a leg here, a few days later another leg, then another until they eventually picked him to death.
Your fish could also be in danger from the lobster as well.
But either way, someones likely to get hurt. They are omnivores, and if they catch a fish, they'll definitely eat them. At the very least he may pinch one, leaving them open to infection.
Best of Luck!

Answer #4:

Any fish that spends a lot of time on the bottom area of the tank is at risk. Most fish are too fast for them to catch. However, the fish are most vulnerable to the blue lobster at night when they are sleeping. The blue lobster is a nocturnal hunter. People have mixed results with them. In general, fish learn to avoid them. Also depends on the personality for your lobster. It's hit or miss... I'd say, definitely don't get him if your tank is not big and doesn't have a lot of hiding spots.
