Question: What is the best type of Parrot for an Apartment?

( Back )

Answer #1:

LoveBird,Cockatoo......Macaw are good birds to

Answer #2:

You might want to get the African Grey, they learn to talk easily.I own a Senegal she is a good talker. But the Senegal is a one person Bird.

Answer #3:

Check out the Pet Parrot Picker below. Just slide the 'Noisy' selector to 'Very Quiet' or 'Quiet' then adjust all the other selectors to whatever you want.

Answer #4:

If you are looking for a medium sized bird, I would recommend a pionus or eclectus. Pionus parrots (a small amazon parrot) are nice quiet birds. And the beautiful eclectus (males are bright green, and the females are RED) are a nice bird, as far as being a sweet pet, and their noise is minimal.

For small birds, any small conure will be good (from the pyrrhura family, NOT the Aratinga family -- aratingas - nanday, sun, jenday - can be noisy!) or cockatiel. The male cockatiels whistle a lot, but the female cockatiels will call for you when they don't see you!

I hope this information is helpful

Good Luck!

Answer #5:

I would go small with either a Meyer's Parrot or Caique.

Answer #6:

Have you ever had a parrot? If not, go to a rescue organization and volunteer there you will find out more information on the breed and species.

Answer #7:

The Eclectus parrots are great. I find that once they learn to talk they don't make hardly any bird screeches/noises, if any at all. They seem to prefer to talk in our human language. They have the ability to talk in sentences too. With any parrot you decide to go with make sure that different people play with it so it doesn't become a one person parrot. It has to be well socialized if you want it to be friendly towards everyone.

Here is a profile of Eclectus (as pets specifically) if you are interested
